The role of multilayer circuit boards
Multilayer circuit boards are generally used for high-speed PCB design. Multilayer circuit boards are actually formed by laminating and bonding several etched single or double panels. Compared with single-layer or double-layer circuit boards, multilayer circuit boards have many advantages, especially in small-volume electronic products. 1. Multilayer circuit boards have high assembly density and small size. As the volume of electronic products becomes smaller and smaller, higher requirements are put forward on the electrical performance of PCBs, and the demand for multilayer circuit boards is also increasing.
2. Multi-layer circuit board wiring is convenient, the wiring length is greatly shortened, and the connection between electronic components is also shortened, which also improves the speed of signal transmission.
3. For high frequency circuits, after adding a ground layer, the signal line will form a constant low impedance to the ground, the circuit impedance will be greatly reduced, and the shielding effect will be better.
4. For electronic products with high heat dissipation requirements, a metal core heat dissipation layer can be provided on the multilayer circuit board to facilitate special functions such as shielding and heat dissipation.
In terms of performance, multi-layer circuit boards are better than single and double panels, but the higher the number of layers, the higher the manufacturing cost, the longer the processing time, and the more complicated the quality inspection. However, in the same area of cost comparison, although the cost of multi-layer circuit boards is higher than that of single-layer and double-layer, considering the noise reduction lamp factor, the cost difference between the two is not so obvious. With the advancement of technology, there are now more than 100 circuit boards, which are mostly used for precision aerospace instruments and medical equipment.
The common multi-layer circuit boards are four or six boards, and the common ones in daily life are familiar computers. The difference between a four-layer board and a six-layer board is that there are two internal signal layers between the middle layer, the ground layer and the power layer. The six-layer board is thicker than the four-layer board. Single board and double board are easy to distinguish, and can also be distinguished by the naked eye. Looking at the lamp with the board, except for the traces on both sides, the other places are transparent. But for the four-layer board and the six-layer board, if there is no corresponding mark on the board, it is not so easy to distinguish easily.
In general, multi-layer circuit boards have been widely used in electronic product manufacturing due to their flexible design, economic advantages, and stable and reliable electrical performance.
